Judicial Case Regarding Maradona's Death Begins

On Tuesday, March 11, the first hearing of the trial regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona took place. This trial investigates seven individuals for homicide by negligence, as they were responsible for the care of the former footballer in his final days. Among the accused are neurosurgeon Leonardo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Díaz, doctor Nancy Forlini, Mariano Perroni, Pedro Di Spagna, and nurse Ricardo Almirón.

During the hearing, compelling evidence was presented in favor of the accusation, including a shocking photograph of Maradona on his deathbed. Patricio Ferrari, Cosme Iribarren, and Laura Capra led the argumentation, showing the image that has shocked the world. In the photo, Maradona can be seen in a state of remarkable inflammation, suggesting that he did not receive the appropriate attention in his final hours.

Maradona's daughters, Dalma, Yanina Maradona, and Verónica Ojeda, were present at the hearing, where the deputy prosecutor of the San Isidro court showed the photograph that evidences the neglect in which the football star was found. According to the prosecutor's words, it is evident that there was negligence on the part of those who were supposed to watch over Maradona's health until the end.

The trial, which is expected to take place three times a week for the next four months, aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding Maradona's death and determine if there was criminal responsibility on the part of those involved in his medical treatment. The image of Maradona on his deathbed has been described as shocking, generating outrage and reflecting the need for justice for the tragic loss of a football legend.
