The tire company Fate is facing a growing conflict with its workers over demands for a salary increase after 11 months without updates, which has led to suspensions for protest leaders. Employees at the company's plant in San Fernando expressed their dissatisfaction throughout the week by sending a letter to management, holding assemblies, and filing a complaint with the National Secretariat of Labor, according to the Argentine News Agency. In the letter presented by the Argentine Tire Workers' Union (SUTNA) to the labor relations management, it was stated that "the workers of Fate, who for years have been putting in our effort in every workday, demand from the management of Fate to end the silence on the salary negotiation imposed by itself, which in practice implies an attempt at a salary reduction." The submission of the document was accompanied by an assembly and a mobilization within the plant, which did not receive a favorable response from Fate, as it restricted access to the union representatives who led the demand and suspended workers who participated. In this regard, the union warned that "although so far the number of suspended colleagues reaches 6, according to a statement issued by the company, the sanctions will be extended to 'all personnel involved'." In this scenario, they assured that they will continue with union measures and filed a complaint with the National Secretariat of Labor with a series of proposals that they demand Fate comply with: Cease its "provocative and offensive actions." Repeal and/or rectify the imposed sanctions. Refrain from deducting salaries and from inserting records into personal files. Allow the entry and action of union representatives. Immediately resume collective bargaining. In this sense, they stated that "it is clear that the escalation of these situations of tension will only end with the resumption of collective bargaining and, fundamentally, with a salary agreement that allows economic relief to the workers and their families."
