Three women were arrested accused of traveling with 65 kilograms of marijuana hidden in backpacks in the city of San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca.
Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency (NA) that personnel from Squadron 67 of the National Gendarmerie were conducting a control on National Route 38, at kilometer 592, when they searched a minibus that had departed from the province of Salta to Mendoza for a "shopping tour".
The officers inspected the bus's luggage hold, where they found three large packages that emanated a strong smell of cannabis sativa, for which reason they identified three female citizens carrying about 60 rectangular packages that were conditioning children's backpacks.
In the presence of witnesses, the Force personnel conducted the Narcotest field tests, which confirmed the existence of 65 kilograms and 868 grams of marijuana.
