In turn, a significant fact in the case is that the teenager could be tried because the new juvenile penal law is not yet in force: "The investigation is underway to clarify the incident." It is reported that due to his age, the young man is considered not punishable. Meanwhile, the provincial senator for the department of San Cristóbal, Felipe Michling, pointed out that it was "a tragic event" that occurred at one of "the region's most prestigious schools" attended by 1,500 students from kindergarten, primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. "We are proud of the work being carried out and, unfortunately, it is tarnished by this incident," stated the lawmaker. "We know that interpretations and hypotheses will arise, but we must stand by the community," said Goity, who also added that "there are no precedents for such cases in the province." The press conference, which was attended by Santa Fe's Minister of Justice and Security, Pablo Cococcioni, also expressed condolences and offered the support of all provincial government areas to the city.
