Authorities intensively search for man missing after trekking in Bariloche

Buenos Aires, Dec 23 (NA) - A man who disappeared over a month ago while trekking in Bariloche is being intensively sought by authorities, who in recent hours have requested help to locate him.

He is Lucas Adrián Álvarez, 39, who was last seen on November 21, but his family only filed the complaint on December 17.

Analysis of security cameras from Nahuel Huapi National Park confirmed that Álvarez entered the Mascardi Information Center on November 21 around 5:30 PM to go trekking to the Pampa Linda area.

From that starting point, the provincial Public Prosecutor's Office reported, a search operation was set up in the southern area of Nahuel Huapi National Park, particularly in the Tronador mountain area.

“He has thin build, is 1.72 m tall, white skin, brown eyes, and very short hair. He has tattoos on both arms and another on his left leg. Also, it was determined from other images that Álvarez was hitchhiking in the area, as learned by the Argentine News Agency.

This Monday, over a month later, the search took place with drone teams and ground personnel, and work was also done in the Comarca Andina area following a 911 call, although the operation was centralized in Pampa Linda.

“We request the community, tourists, residents, and service providers to immediately contact 911 RN Emergencies, the nearest police unit, or the Prosecutor's Office phone number: 0294 4934681 in case of any relevant information - physical characteristics, clothing, or possible sightings,” the report states.

Furthermore, after speaking with the person in charge of the place where he was staying, it was learned that he “expressed his intention to go on a mountain excursion, without making any contact with his close environment since then.”

In images obtained from National Parks' entrance cameras, he can be seen wearing a green t-shirt, blue pants, and a large backpack.
