11th Edition of Escape from Huemul Island Triathlon

The mythical competition Escape from Huemul Island celebrated its 11th edition with over 160 competitors who challenged the crystal-clear waters of Nahuel Huapi, the rugged routes of Patagonia, and the trails of San Carlos de Bariloche, in a triathlon that has become a classic in the Argentine sports calendar.

Organized with the participation of SportClub Pehuenes and the historic club, the event enjoyed an ideal day, with sunshine and warmth that accompanied the athletes on an unforgettable journey. Competitors began the challenge with a swimming segment from Huemul Island to the shore, followed by a cycling route, and finally, a demanding running test. "We thank everyone who helped make this race possible, from the Municipality of Bariloche to the Police, Firefighters, Argentine Naval Prefecture, and the companies that support us,” highlighted Tyslak.

The Escape from Huemul Island reaffirms its place as one of the most anticipated events on the calendar, offering a physical challenge and an unparalleled natural environment for all who dare to face it. Club Pehuenes and the historic club of Bariloche once again excelled in organizing the triathlon that brought together 160 athletes from the country and around the world, now part of Argentina's sports agenda. No Argentine calendar is inaugurated without a race in Bariloche.

In second place was the Bariloche native Natalia Yero (2h46m35s), while third place went to Alejandra Dupré from San Martín de los Andes, with a time of 2h55m55s. The president of Club Pehuenes and a reference from the SportClub venue, Diego Tyslak, participated in the awards ceremony alongside prominent figures like Pablo Del Río (secretary of Sports of Bariloche), as well as Jorge Angaut Rocha and Carlos Aiassa, who promoted the event.

"From the Triathlon Subcommittee of our institution, we are happy for another edition, with a large number of participants from all over the country and a very high level of competition." The Bariloche native Tomás Omaecheverría achieved second place with a time of 2h17m14s, followed by his fellow local Guillermo García, who crossed the finish line in 2h18m34s. In the women's category, the winner was Gabriela Carena from Río Cuarto, with a time of 2h44m30s. All of this took place against the impressive backdrop of the mountain range and Cerro Catedral, making this edition a unique experience.

"Because of the landscape, because of the effort required, because of the characteristics of the terrain." Something that undoubtedly contributed to improving his performance in one of the most challenging races in the country. The men's category podium was led by Flavio Morandini, originally from Buenos Aires and currently residing in Mexico, who completed the Olympic distance in a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 44 seconds.

"Well then: the starting gun for 2025 has now been fired." And due to the reputation that the competition has already earned, participants had the opportunity to train in advance at the SportClub venue.
