A 13-year-old girl gave birth to a baby in Saladillo after being a victim of sexual abuse by her stepfather. The girl's aunt, Rocío, recounted that the surprise came when the girl's mother called to inform her about the birth.
Rocío, upon visiting her niece in the hospital, was surprised to find her in good health, despite the eight months of gestation she had gone through at her young age. The minor revealed to her that the abuse perpetrated by her stepfather, identified as Ezequiel, was not an isolated incident but occurred several times.
Justice detained the mother and the stepfather in Azul, 128 kilometers from Saladillo, accusing the woman of concealment and false testimony, and the man of aggravated sexual abuse. Neighbors and family members expressed their concern about the lack of follow-up by the authorities, after restoring the custody of the girl to her mother.
Rocío recalled that when she saw her niece the day before the birth, she noticed unusual physical signs for a 13-year-old girl, which alarmed her. The minor is in good health along with her baby, and it is expected that both will be transferred to a local home.
This dramatic case has generated shock in the community, highlighting the importance of ensuring the protection of minors in situations of abuse and the proper follow-up by the competent authorities.
