Rosario Secures Key Victory

Rosario Central defeated Atlético Tucumán 2-1 at the Gigante de Arroyito stadium on Saturday, in matchday 13 of Zone B of the 2026 Apertura Tournament. Alejo Véliz scored twice, securing an important victory for the team to solidify its position in the playoff qualification spots. According to the Argentine News Agency, the team coached by Ariel Holan struck first in the 30th minute of the first half when Véliz—who had missed a penalty moments earlier—headed in a cross from Jaminton Campaz to open the scoring. However, the visitors equalized in the 37th minute through Leandro Díaz, who capitalized on a defensive error by Juan Cruz Raffin to score past Jorge Broun. In the second half, Central found the winning goal in the 29th minute, again with Véliz, who slotted home another assist from Campaz to seal the 2-1 victory at Arroyito. The forward also redeemed himself after missing an early penalty. With this win, Rosario Central reached 21 points and advanced in the race for qualification from Zone B, while Atlético Tucumán was left in the lower part of the table.
