Argentinian Tennis Player Receives Wildcard to Rosario Challenger 125

Argentinian tennis player Juan Bautista Torres has been confirmed as the third and final wildcard into the main draw of the Rosario Challenger 125. According to the Argentine News Agency, the 23-year-old, ranked 364th in the ATP rankings, will join Camilo Ugo Carabelli (49th, defending champion) and Renzo Olivo (512th, Davis Cup champion with the national team) as the three wildcards in the main draw. As the second most important tournament in the country, the Rosario Challenger will be the only 125-level event held in Argentina during the season and will take place at the Jockey Club in the Santa Fe city from Sunday, February 1st, to the 8th. Seeking to get back on a winning streak that could boost his career, Juan Bautista Torres received the opportunity to skip the qualifying rounds and advance directly to the main draw. After a 2025 that started inside the top 300 but from which he gradually began to fall, the results never came for the Argentine. Having played only one ATP-level tournament, with a participation in the qualifying rounds of the Argentina Open where he won one match but lost in the second instance, Torres spent the year playing Challengers, mainly in South America, and even entered some Futures. Among his best results were a semifinal at the Challenger 75 in Como, Italy, another in Cali, where he came from the qualifying phases, and a quarterfinal in the Challenger of Lima, where he starred in the longest match in Challenger circuit history against the Chilean Tomás Barrios Vera, who defeated him after 4 hours and 24 minutes. Thus, Torres will seek his best version in the 2026 season, which he opened with a defeat in the first round of the Buenos Aires Challenger, held at the Argentine Tennis Club, and will defend five points, having qualified for the main draw from the qualifiers but falling in the first round. Additionally, with his wildcard, the main draw of the Rosario tournament is complete, which will feature Camilo Ugo Carabelli (49th), Francisco Comesaña (68th), Mariano Navone (74th), and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (87th) as its main stars.
