Buenos Aires, January 20 (NA) – The locksmith who had been detained in Rosario accused of a millionaire robbery of a retiree was released after investigators confirmed that he only opened the victim's safe, received the money for the job from the caregiver, and left. According to the complaint, the 86-year-old woman stated that she had asked her caregiver for a trusted locksmith, which is why Tamara G. contacted the man and, after the work, more than 20 thousand dollars, jewelry, and valuables disappeared from her safe. Faced with this scenario, the retiree's daughter decided to file the complaint, so the woman who cared for her was arrested, while the authorities were focused on the locksmith's detention, maintaining that they had worked together to steal the money. Days later, the subject was arrested and remained incommunicado until Monday afternoon when he was released, as he had nothing to do with the robbery, according to the Argentine News Agency. The newspaper La Capital reconstructed the locksmith's work on the day of the robbery: he entered the building at 12:30, went up to the seventh floor, opened the safe, left the room, the caregiver gave him $60,000 for the opening, and at 12:55 he left the place to continue his route. "The main accused testified and never pointed to our defendant," stated Leonel Iesari, the locksmith's lawyer, who also accused the Justice of being "irresponsible." Although the first investigations highlight that there were no conversations outside of being a client, the locksmith will be subject to 60 days of conduct guidelines, such as setting a domicile, signing every 15 days at the prosecutor's office, and presenting a guarantor.
