Modernization Agreement Signed for Rosario Airport

The National Airport System Regulatory Agency and Rosario International Airport signed an agreement for runway reconstruction to enhance safety and capacity for larger aircraft.

Modernization Agreement Signed for Rosario Airport

The Regulatory Agency of the National Airport System (ORSNA) and the "Islas Malvinas" International Airport in Rosario have signed an agreement to reconstruct the runway of this airport. Although specific dates for the start of the works have not yet been announced, ORSNA has communicated that the modernization of the runway is of vital importance to maintain operational safety standards.

The reconstruction will include the use of rigid pavement (concrete) at the heads and the intersection with the taxiway, as well as asphalt reinforcement in the central section of the runway. The main objective of this intervention is to increase the support and operational capacity of the runway, allowing for the circulation of larger aircraft.

It is expected that, due to the air commerce policies implemented by the National Government, the flow of aircraft will increase in the future. As a complement to the runway reconstruction, a new lighting system will be installed to strengthen operational safety at the airport.

These improvements will elevate the operational category of the "Islas Malvinas" International Airport in Rosario from the current Category 1 to Category 3, which will allow for the operation of larger aircraft and an increase in the number of passengers and tourists that can use the airport.

One of the most notable aspects of this agreement is the joint financing arrangement to carry out the work, which will be conducted in a coordinated manner between ORSNA and the International Airport of Rosario (AIR). Both parties will share the funding and will technically supervise the process to ensure quality and compliance with operational and safety standards.

The investment will be equitably shared between ORSNA, through the National Airport System Strengthening Trust, and the International Airport of Rosario, as a demonstration of both parties' commitment to the development of airport infrastructure in Argentina, as indicated by ORSNA.
