Rosana Galliano was a young mother who was shot dead in 2008 by hitmen hired by her ex-husband, José Arce, and his ex-mother-in-law, Elsa Aguilar. This crime, committed in the El Remanso neighborhood in Pilar, became one of the most memorable cases in Argentine police history. Three years earlier, in 2005, the victim and Arce met and it was love at first sight. Their relationship, despite a 30-year age gap, quickly led to marriage and the birth of two children. However, everything changed in mid-2006 when Galliano decided to separate, but Arce refused, which led to future conflicts over the division of assets worth nearly $700,000. During this period of dispute, the victim reported her ex-husband to the authorities, and the justice system imposed a 300-meter restraining order on him. It was there, just 300 meters from her home, that she was shot and killed. Throughout the investigation, Galliano's family accused Arce and his mother of being responsible, and only after a year did the justice system respond, with both being arrested in April 2009. In 2013, four years later, the case went to trial, and after several hearings, the Criminal Court No. 1 in Campana sentenced the mother and son to life imprisonment for triple qualified homicide due to the relationship, treachery, and the premeditated collusion of two or more people. In 2018, the accused died after being hospitalized for several days due to a hemorrhagic stroke at the Pilar Sanguinetti Hospital. During the trial, Gabriel and Pablo Leguizamón were also among the accused. On the night of the murder, while the accused was looking after his children, he called the young woman and told her that one of the children had a fever. Arce knew that the cell phone signal in El Remanso was poor, so the victim had to go outside to be able to hear him.
