Buenos Aires, December 21 (NA) -- A 24-year-old officer of the Rural Patrol lost her life this Saturday after being hit by a Ford F-100 truck while on duty at a traffic control post near the southern access to the town of Oliva, in the province of Córdoba.
The victim, identified as Milagros Cuello, was urgently transferred to the local hospital, but the severity of the injuries caused her death upon entering the health center.
Although the alcohol test was negative, the subject could be charged with negligent homicide under the jurisdiction of the Río Segundo Prosecutor's Office, led by Patricia Baulies.
The police control was being carried out on Route 9.
The Minister of Security of Córdoba, Juan Pablo Quinteros, expressed his pain at the loss of the agent:
"She died doing what she chose to do every day: to care for others, even at the risk of her own life," stated the official, who added that "there are no words to describe the injustice and pain of saying goodbye to a young, committed police officer who was exactly where she should have been."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Security also expressed its "deep regret over the death of Officer Aide Milagros Cuello, who lost her life in the line of duty."
