Policeman Injured in Shootout in Morón

Today in the town of Morón, in the western outskirts of Buenos Aires, an officer of the City Police was injured after a shootout with two criminals who attempted to rob him. The incident took place at the intersection of Edison and Don Bosco streets, where Juan Macaroff, 33 years old and functioning at the 10 B Police Station of Versailles, was riding a motorcycle and was approached by the wrongdoers who were riding another enduro-type motorcycle.

In an act of resistance, the police officer confronted the aggressors and an exchange of gunfire occurred in which he was injured. Macaroff was shot twice, once in the neck and once in the left arm. He was later taken to Sanatorio Dupuytren for medical attention.

So far this year, a total of 53 similar confrontations have been reported in which police have been involved. This tragic event adds to the death of officer Brian Coria last January in an incident in Castelar.
