Buenos Aires, Feb 23 (NA) — A sergeant from the Federal Special Operations Group (GEOF) was involved in a shootout with criminals who attempted to rob him as he returned to his home in the Buenos Aires locality of Monte Chingolo, Lanús district. As a result, one of the alleged attackers died at the scene, and the officer was unharmed, according to the Argentine News Agency. The incident occurred at the intersection of Colonel Álvarez and Yapeyú, where the off-duty officer was approached by four individuals on two motorcycles with apparent robbery intentions. According to initial reports, in response to the threat, the officer drew his service weapon and fired back, leading to an exchange of gunfire. In this context, one of the suspects was killed on the street. Shortly after, about two blocks from the scene, police found a teenager around 14 years old with a gunshot wound, who may be linked to the robbery attempt. The minor was treated and is at the disposal of the investigation to determine his degree of involvement. Following the incident, La Realidad On Line reported that the sergeant was transferred to the 6th Police Station of Monte Chingolo to carry out the necessary procedures. Meanwhile, experts and various areas of the force, including internal control departments, were working to reconstruct the mechanics of the confrontation and determine responsibilities.
