The Merlo Municipality reported that hundreds of children participated in a new edition of the 'Merlo Inclusivo' program camp, organized by the Sports Subsecretariat at the Ferrocarril Oeste de Pontevedra grounds. The event featured recreational activities, crafts, and artistic spaces for families to engage in together. According to the Argentine News Agency, the morning began with camp-life tasks: participants did crafts, set up tents, and collected wood for a bonfire, a dynamic designed to promote integration, recreation, and coexistence in a cared-for environment. During the event, the Undersecretary of Sports, Mauro Schmahl, highlighted the significance of the gathering and the program's role in building community ties. 'We are holding the camp for the members of Merlo Inclusivo so they can have a good time,' he stated. The Municipality clarified that the 'Merlo Inclusivo' program aims to guarantee the participation of people with disabilities in recreational disciplines in an environment of integration and support. The project also fosters collaboration with schools, institutions, and municipal departments for joint activities throughout the year. The Commune specified that the program includes individuals with visual, motor, and intellectual impairments, aged 3 and up, under the supervision of an interdisciplinary team of physical education teachers, psychologists, and psychopedagogues. In this context, municipal sources indicated that these types of encounters seek to consolidate accessible recreational spaces with family participation and professional guidance, and anticipated the continuation of similar proposals within the district's sports and community calendar. For more information, the Municipality reported that inquiries can be made at the Sports Subsecretariat, located at Av. Buenos Aires, February 2, 2026.
