Merlo Municipality Closes Poultry Company for Environmental Pollution

The Municipality of Merlo closed a poultry company that was dumping its waste on public streets and polluting the environment. Now, to complete the sanction, it must pay a hefty fine: "Whoever dirties, pays." The case began after a complaint from residents who reported having seen the merchant throwing garbage and food onto the public street, which generated infectious foci and the proliferation of rodents, the Argentine News Agency learned. On various occasions, residents managed to record the moment in which the merchant threw the waste, so the Municipality of Merlo acted immediately through the General Inspection area. In recent days, the closure of the chicken depot, located on Eva Perón and José Miranda Avenue, La Teja neighborhood, was carried out, where it was also verified that the merchandise was not properly refrigerated. The public sales business, located at Eva Perón Avenue 7622, Libertad, was also closed, as it was determined that it was not in order and did not comply with hygiene or food handling standards. After both closures, it was reported that the company, under the provisions of the municipality, will have to pay a fine ranging from $250,000 to $14,000,000. "If we all commit to anonymously reporting those who dirty, we build a cleaner, more orderly, and safer Merlo," the press release concludes.
