Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza Appoints Darío Franco as New Head Coach

Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza confirmed on Saturday the appointment of Darío Franco as the new head coach of the first team, following the departure of Ariel Broggi, the manager who had achieved the historic promotion to the Primera División. According to Argentine News Agency, the Mendoza club chose a coach with an extensive career, whose last position was at Arsenal de Sarandí in the Primera Nacional 2025, and who will already be in charge of the squad's training this Sunday. The official presentation will be on Monday at a press conference. Broggi's departure occurred a few days ago after the loss to Newell's, marking the end of a cycle that spanned 24 matches, with nine wins, six draws, and nine defeats. Beyond the outcome, his name is etched in the club's history for having returned the team to the top category after 42 years. Franco will take over in a complex context, as Gimnasia de Mendoza has two wins, three draws, and six losses in the Apertura Tournament, and his debut will be challenging: they will host the leader Vélez at the Víctor Legrotaglie stadium next Friday, April 3.
