Independiente Rivadavia from Mendoza made history by winning the Copa Argentina for the very first time. In the final against Argentinos Juniors, the teams drew 2-2 in regular time, with Independiente prevailing in the penalty shootout. The match took place at the Juan Domingo Perón stadium, the home of Instituto de Córdoba. From the first minutes, Independiente Rivadavia took control of the game and quickly opened the scoring. Following a corner kick, Alex Arce headed the ball into an empty net to make it 1-0. The lead was soon doubled to 2-0 by a precise finish from Matías Fernández. However, Argentinos Juniors fought back.
