Godoy Cruz Faces Heavy Penalties for Fan Violence

The Discipline Tribunal has announced the sanction imposed on Godoy Cruz due to the aggression towards linesman Diego Martin during the suspended match against Talleres in the third round of the Apertura Tournament. The "Tomba" team will have to pay an economic fine of 50 million pesos, lose 3 points in the overall table, play the next 6 home games behind closed doors, and cover the transportation costs of Talleres to Mendoza.

During the confrontation, a Godoy Cruz fan threw a projectile that hit the assistant referee in the head, requiring his transfer to the hospital with an injury. Due to the seriousness of the situation, referee Yael Falcón Pérez decided to suspend the match after 45 minutes played, with a score of 0-0 and no date set to complete the match.

Bulletin No. 6633 from the Discipline Tribunal confirmed the harsh disciplinary measures imposed on Godoy Cruz for this unacceptable behavior, similar to that which occurred in 2024 against San Lorenzo. In the statement, the Tribunal also requested that the match not be rescheduled during a FIFA date to avoid harming teams by depriving them of players called up to their national teams, and that Godoy Cruz assume all logistical costs of organizing the match.

In summary, the sanction imposed on Godoy Cruz from Mendoza includes paying the transportation costs to Talleres of Córdoba, playing the next six home games without an audience, losing three points in the table, and a fine equivalent to 2,500 tickets.
