Match Halted After Assault on Referee in Argentina

The match between the teams "Hood Cruz" and "Talleres" in the Argentine league was interrupted after the assault on one of the referees at the "Victor Antonio Legrottaglie" stadium. The assistant referee, Diego Martinez, was attacked with a solid object when he was returning to the field after the first timeout, which led to him receiving an injury to the head and being sent to the hospital for treatment after bleeding from the face.

"We cannot continue the match after this attack, it is impossible to finish it, we cannot expose ourselves to danger at a sporting event, we live in 2025, and this should not happen," - emphasized the judge Yoel Falkon Perez during the evacuation from the field.

The president of the "Hood Cruz" club, Alejandro Chapini, publicly stated that "these things go beyond our control, an uncontrolled person attacked the assistant referee, this does not correspond to football". It should be noted that the attack originated from the head of the "Hood Cruz" team, who was expelled in the first timeout for unsportsmanlike behavior, when the referee Fernandesa was expelled by the assistant referee.
