The government of Mendoza province, through the Ministry of Health and Sports, filed a dozen complaints today against parents and guardians who failed to comply with the obligation to vaccinate their children according to the calendar. This measure is framed under Resolution 2572 of this ministry, headed by Rodolfo Montero, which establishes the procedure for acting in cases of non-compliance with National Law 27.491. In this way, Mendoza has become the first province to file this type of complaint, within a complex context due to the re-emergence of diseases considered eradicated, such as measles, the last cases of which were recorded in 2016. Furthermore, and as reported by the Noticias Argentinas agency, the death of seven infants from whooping cough in Entre RĂos has raised the alert level, while health authorities attribute this to a decrease in vaccination rates. The regulations establish that vaccination is a 'social good' and an essential tool for public health, and therefore requires those in charge of minors to guarantee compliance with the National Vaccination Calendar.
