A teenager died and her younger brother is in serious condition after being hit by a drunk driver in the province of Mendoza. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Roca and Llancanelo streets, when the children were crossing the road and were struck by a BMW car driven by a 31-year-old man. As a result, the 13-year-old girl died at the scene from her injuries, while her brother was taken to the Malargüe Regional Hospital with open fractures in his limbs, and a decision is being made about his transfer to the Notti Hospital. According to the MDZ news outlet, a breathalyzer test on the driver showed a blood alcohol level of 0.14 grams. It is reported that Mendoza is one of the provinces that still maintains a tolerance limit of 0.5 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, so for the justice system, this may not be considered an aggravating factor. The case is being handled by the Malargüe Prosecutor's Office.
