
In Mendoza, a woman was found burned in her home in the San Vicente neighborhood of Guaymallén. Firefighters extinguished the flames and, after confirming that the death was violent and intentional, the femicide protocol was activated. The victim was identified as Antonia Halcón.
After receiving an alert about a fire, firefighters and uniformed police arrived at the house and discovered the charred body of the woman. The Public Prosecutor's Office took charge of the investigation and summoned different police divisions to clarify the crime.
The victim's son alerted authorities upon finding the deceased woman and the tenant fleeing. The suspect, Damián Darío Orozco Espejo, was preventively detained as he was renting the house. They transported the woman's body to the morgue where it was determined that her death was violent and intentional.
The autopsy confirmed the violence of the crime. The Prosecutor's Office took statements from witnesses, and firefighters mentioned that the fire was hypothetically and intentionally set.
