The oil company Aconcagua Energía has obtained the allocation of a new area in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. This is Payún Oeste, a zone with significant discoveries of oil, gas, and condensates in conventional formations and tested productivity in Vaca Muerta through the well La Fija.x-1.
According to available technical information, Payún Oeste has high potential for conventional development over the folded belt. To carry out its development, drilling work for new wells and repairs on key wells are planned, which will provide valuable information to quantify reserves and design the exploitation plan.
As part of this development plan, Aconcagua Energía intends to focus on opening new exploratory frontiers in Vaca Muerta, a potential unconventional reservoir, in a region that has produced positive results in previous investigations. The company hopes to generate genuine investments, hire local labor, and generate income from royalties from the new production, which will bring benefits to the Province of Mendoza.
The allocation of this new area will allow Aconcagua Energía to form a new integrated block for hydrocarbon development, combining the lands of Payún Oeste and Confluencia Sur, leveraging the synergies of existing production and service facilities.
The president and CEO of the company, Ing. Diego Trabucco, expressed satisfaction with this allocation and enthusiasm for continuing to contribute to the industry's development. He highlighted the integration of Payún Oeste with Confluencia Sur as an opportunity to optimize operations, generate jobs, and create synergies between both areas.
On the other hand, Payún Oeste, belonging to the Neuquén Basin, covers an area of 179 km2 and has 13 wells drilled by previous operators, evaluating different conventional and unconventional hydrocarbon production levels. The presence of Vaca Muerta in the area will reduce risk and allow for the future development of unconventional resources in a significant part of Mendoza.
Aconcagua Energía is consolidating itself as one of the most dynamic energy groups in Argentina, standing out in the productive basins and regions where it operates. The company maintains a strategy of sustainable growth and consolidation across all its business lines, positioning itself as a benchmark in the sector.
