The company Aeropuertos Argentina presented an investment project for the refurbishment of the El Plumerillo international airport in Mendoza. This project aims to increase the airport's operational capacity by 40% to cope with the growth in the number of flights and passengers. According to the authorities, this improvement will enable the province to continue attracting investment and tourism sustainably.

The refurbishment plan for Mendoza airport includes the expansion of the boarding area for domestic and international flights, the addition of new remote boarding gates, the creation of services and commercial stores, the construction of a new health and office hub for agencies. These improvements are expected to be completed in the coming years and will significantly contribute to the development of air transport in the region.

In 2024, El Plumerillo Airport registered a total of 2,315,946 passengers, of which 1,719,121 corresponded to domestic flights and 596,825 to international flights. Various airlines such as AerolĂ­neas Argentinas, JetSmart, FlyBondi, Latam, Sky, GOL, and Copa operate at this airport, connecting it with destinations within and outside Argentina.

On the other hand, the construction of a new terminal at San Rafael Airport was also announced. This new infrastructure will feature modern facilities including check-in counters, offices for airlines, a bar and café, children's play areas, among other services. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the runway, taxiways, and platform of this airport.

At a press conference, the governor of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, highlighted the importance of this investment in the province, emphasizing the joint effort between the public and private sectors. For their part, representatives of Aeropuertos Argentina stressed the need to increase the operational capacity of airports to meet the growing demand for passengers. These improvements will translate into a more comfortable and efficient experience for users, as well as greater air connectivity for the region.
