Merchant Detained for Teen's Murder in Mar del Plata

A merchant was detained in Mar del Plata accused of killing a teenager who left a birthday party with his girlfriend. Although the detained claims that the young people attempted to rob him, investigators are seeking to clarify what happened.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning when two teenagers, aged 16 and 14, left a party on Genoa Street at 8400. At one point, the young people stopped at the corner and began to kiss, at which point the merchant Victor Martínez, 34 years old and owner of a lubricating center, opened fire on them, seriously injuring one of the boys.

Despite the quick response from emergency services and the transfer to the Interzonal General Hospital of Acute Care (HIGA), the injured young man, identified as Vicente Argentino Gutiérrez, unfortunately passed away.

The alleged aggressor was detained at the scene and during his arrest claimed that the teenagers attempted to rob him. However, authorities are considering the theory that the man simply yelled at them and fired the shots.

Currently, the suspect is in custody at Unit 44 of Batán and is expected to be interrogated on Monday, facing charges of "aggravated homicide due to the use of a firearm."
