The father of Natalia stated that on Tuesday he, along with Laura Calampuca - the mother - went to the Prosecutor's Office, where they were informed that "they would send the DNA samples" to the La Plata Forensic Advisory Office: "Now they have to go directly with the order, this situation has to be resolved in these days." Officers Ángel Sánchez Custodio, Osvaldo Alfredo Sissi, and José Luis Morillo attended the Mar del Plata Forensic Advisory Office, located at Almirante Brown 1762, on August 28, 2025, to have their blood drawn, the analysis of which will be key to determining the name of the fifth murderer. Sergeant Borra, Sergeant Enrique Diez, former Commissioner Merllo, and Commissioner Oroz Mieres are the other police officers who underwent the study. Meanwhile, the prosecution appealed the temporary release of Oscar Echenique, one of the four uniformed officers sentenced to life imprisonment. The femicide Natalia Melmann was found on February 4, 2001, under a mound of leaves in the "Florentino Ameghino" nursery in the coastal city of Miramar, and the autopsy revealed that she was strangled with the cord of her sneakers, although at first glance, the body showed bruises, burns, fractures, and a blow to the skull. In the face of this, it was determined that she was sexually abused with carnal access by five men, including Ricardo Anselmini, Ricardo Suárez, and Oscar Echenique, sentenced to life imprisonment for the crimes of "kidnapping, aggravated sexual abuse with carnal access by multiple people and homicide for criminal reasons". Ricardo Anselmini and Oscar Echenique, two of the adolescent's killers. "I have received a great response and love from many people in the city in these days," stated Gustavo, who emphasized that "in these 25 years of struggle, fortunately, we have the recognition of the people and the march is not ours, it is the city's, it is its own." Natalia's parents continue to demand justice.
