In Mar del Plata, Argentina, a 35-year-old man with a history of addiction was shot dead on Tuesday in the Villa Gascón neighborhood amid a wave of violence plaguing the area, where other homicides have recently been registered.

The victim is Mario Ezequiel Ferreyra, who was attacked on Gascón street at 7,500. Emergency services personnel arrived at the scene but were unable to assist him because neighbors stoned the ambulance. Police were then able to control the situation and confirmed the death of the young man, who had been shot in the abdomen under unclear circumstances.

After contacting the victim's family, a brother who identified the body confirmed that Ferreyra had addictions.

Meanwhile, according to the Argentine News Agency, prosecutor Constanza Mandagaran took charge of the case and initiated an investigation into the person responsible for the homicide.

In addition, for more than a decade, Villa Gascón has been known as one of the most violent areas of Mar del Plata; in fact, another murder had already been perpetrated there at the beginning of this year.
