Mar del Plata consolidates as a gastronomic destination

The summer of 2025 was special for Argentines, who chose domestic destinations like Mar del Plata and the Atlantic Coast instead of traveling to Brazil. Despite the economic situation in the country, Mar del Plata had one of its best seasons in years, with a significant influx of tourists enjoying a wide range of affordable culinary options at beach shacks and markets.

For example, the classic milanesa a la napolitana with fries could be found in a price range from $13,000 to $20,000, while the Caesar salad was offered for $13,000 to $17,000 in most establishments. The prices of calamari varied considerably, ranging from $14,000 to $25,000 per serving.

At Spa 12 in Punta Mogotes, which operated at full capacity throughout the season, the milanesa a la napolitana could be enjoyed for $13,000. Despite the price variations, eating on the beach turned out to be more affordable than in previous seasons, even at the most exclusive beach restaurants.

The most popular dishes during the season were milanesa a la napolitana with fries, calamari, and Caesar salad, as confirmed by various culinary establishments in the city. The prices of these dishes varied according to the location and demand from diners.

One of the factors contributing to the large influx of tourists to the Atlantic Coast was the adjustment of food prices to the economic reality of the country. Despite the controversy generated by the debate on social media about choosing international or national destinations, tourists enjoyed a diverse and accessible culinary offering at the beach resorts and shacks of Mar del Plata.
