A total of 200 workers from the fishing industry, members of a cooperative, were laid off and compensated by Frigorífico Sur Trade, which has permanently closed. The company stated that at that time they could only produce the minimum necessary to cover the guaranteed.

In the cooperative "Pampa Fish", which employs about a hundred people including SOIP and Commerce employees, concern is palpable. Sources from the fishing sector expressed their unease over the lack of governmental response to the crisis, pointing out the absence of concrete measures that could lead to a greater social problem.

The closure of Sur Trade, located in Mar del Plata, was confirmed by both business sources and the fish workers' union. This closure adds to the general crisis in the sector, where concern for the economic situation is increasingly felt.

The owners of Sur Trade have decided to close the plant and proceed to compensate the staff of the "Cabo Corrientes" cooperative. A bleak outlook is observed in the fishing sector, where layoffs and company closures could multiply if public policies that address the sector's needs are not implemented.

The fishing industry in Mar del Plata represents a fundamental part of its economy, and if measures are not taken soon, the social and economic impact on the region could be devastating. The government's disinterest and lack of response to the crisis present an uncertain scenario for workers and entrepreneurs in the sector.
