A tragic news shocked the town of Luján de Cuyo, in Mendoza, where a 14-year-old girl lost her life by drowning in the Mendoza River. The incident occurred while the young girl was walking with her siblings in the river's access area. Despite the rescue service's efforts, the minor could not be saved.
The tragedy took place over the weekend when the teenager, accompanied by her 8 and 19-year-old siblings, submerged herself in a branch of the river that had a gate. Unfortunately, she got trapped in a 30-meter tube, and despite the prompt intervention of firefighters and rescue teams, she lost her life. Her body was found shortly after the search began.
Local authorities have begun an investigation to clarify the circumstances that led the siblings to that location and why the girl decided to enter a dangerous area of the river. Although the teenager's identity has not been revealed, the community is devastated by the sad news.
This unfortunate incident adds to another that occurred a week earlier when a 13-year-old girl also died by drowning after slipping and falling into a canal. According to reports, the minor attempted to cross the canal via a concrete walkway, losing her balance and falling into the water.
