In the middle of the party, Moreno approached to threateningly demand that they turn down the music, to which he received a negative response. Faced with this situation, Moreno drew his weapon, displayed it, and began to intimidate the victim, who became enraged: "You're so cool. Don't you pull your iron on me. Who do you think you are?". It was just seconds later when the retiree pulled the trigger and shot Díaz in the abdomen, causing his death minutes later. The jury trial against former police officer Rafael Horacio Moreno for the murder of bus driver Sergio Díaz during the Christmas celebrations of 2024 over loud music in Lomas del Mirador begins this Tuesday and could conclude this week. The trial is being held in the Trial Court of the Department of Law and Political Science of the National University of La Matanza (UNLAM), where Moreno is accused of the crimes of aggravated homicide by the use of a firearm and illegal possession of a war weapon. This time it will be a jury trial, which must rule on a verdict of guilty or not guilty against the 74-year-old man, who is in preventive custody. The popular jury will be selected this Tuesday at the start of the trial, and only on Wednesday, November 5th, will witness testimonies begin. In this context, according to reports, it is feasible that a verdict against the former police officer could be reached by the end of the week. Díaz was murdered in the early hours of December 25, 2024, when he was with friends and family on the sidewalk of his house, listening to music and drinking alcohol.
