On October 24, a kindergarten in Lomas de Zamora held its year‑end celebration. Joel Pizarro’s family attended with his son. Later that day, the 9th Police Station in Parque Barón, known for its links to local drug‑sale spots, arrived in the area. Witnesses report a clash between the police and Joel, and he was shot dead by Sergeant Daniel Ezequiel Molina. Joel died in the early hours of October 26.
The family says the police stole his mobile phone and documents, and tried to cover up the crime. For more than a month, relatives have been seeking justice and filed complaints with the Human Rights Secretariat. The police officer is scheduled to testify on February 6, and the case is under judicial review.

"None of the patrols reported what happened," said Diamela, Joel’s sister.
"The mobile phone and ID disappeared after they kept them in their possession," added Sonia, Joel’s mother.
