Buenos Aires, November 24 (NA) – Gustavo Liuzzi, Head of the Fire Department, who was in charge of the operation to combat the major fire in Lomas de Zamora, reported that there are no injuries and two plastic factories were completely destroyed.
«We are working with heavy machinery to remove the structures of the burned buildings and to put out the flames,» commented Liuzzi in a press interview.
It was determined that the fire broke out after 2 AM, and according to the Fire Chief, residents were evacuated when the first unit arrived.
«We evacuated the entire block and, over time, seeing that the situation was safe, some neighbors returned to their homes, except for those in the adjacent houses,» the Argentine News Agency (NA) learned.
When asked about the affected structures, Liuzzi explained:
«Two factories burned down: one for plastic packaging and another for plastic injection that makes toys».
«There are 16 units working,» he added and emphasized that due to the long weekend, there are no injuries or fatalities.
Finally, he stressed that the fire «is contained and under control» and that in the next minutes they will begin «to demolish 100% of the structure» because «nothing is useful anymore».
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but Liuzzi assured that they will analyze the security cameras and carry out the necessary investigations.
