Lanús' defender and captain, Carlos "Cali" Izquierdoz, spoke after his team's elimination from the Copa Sudamericana against Cruzeiro by 1-0. He stated that despite the defeat, the players gave their all and played with pride. Izquierdoz, one of the main reinforcements for the team this season, analyzed the match and mentioned that in the first half Cruzeiro had control of the ball but did not create much danger, except for a shot that hit the crossbar.
Regarding the own goal in the last play, he lamented that situation and highlighted that in the second half the team went out to seek the equalizer in every possible way, even bringing in several offensive players, reaching to have three forwards in the area. Despite the effort, they could not equalize the score.
Izquierdoz expressed confidence that Lanús performed well in the first leg, emphasizing that after Ramiro Carrera's goal, the team had several clear chances to take the lead. Reflecting on the series against Cruzeiro, he mentioned that sometimes in football there is no justice, but he recognized the merit of the Brazilian team.
