A Federal Police officer was shot and killed during an armed attack in Lanús. The thieves on motorcycles attacked him in a supermarket and then fled. The police are searching for the suspects.


Police Officer Killed in Shootout with Thieves in Lanús

Buenos Aires, March 26 (NA) – A Federal Police officer was killed during an armed confrontation with four motorcycle thieves who attacked him in the Buenos Aires district of Lanús. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that Officer Matías Nahuel Cevallos, a member of the Division of Workshops, was at a branch of the VEA supermarket located on Avenida Remedios de Escalada when he was approached by thieves on two motorcycles. The victim drew his service weapon but was shot in the left side of the chest under the armpit and in one of his legs. He was urgently taken to the Evita Hospital, and the criminals stole his motorcycle before fleeing. In this context, personnel from the Federal Superintendence of Investigations (Homicide Division, Automotive Division, and Organized Robbery Division) were mobilized to assist the Buenos Aires Police in locating the suspects. Meanwhile, agents from the Scientific Police moved to the crime scene to carry out the necessary analysis.
