In the domestic league, Estudiantes is one of the contenders in the Apertura Tournament, fighting with Vélez for the top spot. Additionally, they are the current champions of Argentine football, having won the Clausura 2025 title by defeating Racing on penalties in a thrilling final.
Cusco, for its part, lost its debut match at home 2-0 to Flamengo of Brazil, which won the last edition of the Copa Libertadores.
