The Argentine Football Association's Disciplinary Committee has ruled on sanctions against the president of Estudiantes de La Plata, Juan Sebastián Verón, and the club's players. The sanctions are for a 'honor corridor' where players turned their backs to Rosario Central, who was proclaimed league champion by the AFA. As a result, Juan Sebastián Verón has been suspended for six months, and the players who participated in the act have been suspended for two matches. Team captain Santiago Núñez has additionally been banned from serving as captain for three months. The club Estudiantes de La Plata has been fined 4,000 virtual units for offensive conduct and violation of fair play principles. The suspensions will be served in the next official tournament. The Committee will also continue proceedings against other members of the club's board to determine their potential disciplinary liability. Verón's wife, Valentina Martín, defended him on social media, stating that they want to 'eliminate him because they are terrified of him' and urged him to 'strike and end this mafia'.
