Driver dies during race in La Plata

A tragic incident occurred on Saturday at the 'Roberto José Mouras' racetrack, located near the city of La Plata. A driver died while participating in a regional automotive competition called Turismo Internacional. The victim was identified as Alejandro Frangioli, a 66-year-old man who lost consciousness while completing the final lap at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta. He lost control of the vehicle and came to a stop beside the track. Despite resuscitation attempts, it was not possible to revive him, and the doctor certified that the death was due to natural causes. His son-in-law, Guillermo Quiroga, was also at the scene and stated that Frangioli had previously suffered a heart attack, had three coronary stents, and was on medication. The police, for their part, carried out the necessary procedures, and the case was filed as 'investigation of the causes of death' without penal intervention, given the deceased's pre-existing medical condition. The driver, from Chaco, was a champion in 2005, 2006, and 2018 in the Super Class, and this year he was one of the main contenders in Class 2.
