Buenos Aires, April 13 (NA) – The investigation into the case of a baby found dead on the premises of the University of La Plata took a strong turn in the last few minutes due to the mother being arrested and accused of homicide, according to sources in the case confirmed to the Argentine News Agency. Initially, the mother was intensively sought after as she had been reported as missing over the weekend, but hours later she was located in the area of 122 and 50, in good health, although under a psychiatric condition that motivated her medical evaluation, without detention. However, with the progress of the investigation, personnel from the La Plata Federal Brigade managed to identify the woman again at 1 and 45, where her detention was carried out by judicial order. The suspect was identified as Camila de Viggiano Rojas, 32 years old, of Chilean nationality, who was transferred to the headquarters of the Federal Police of La Plata. Following this development, the case, which was initially filed as “investigation of causes of death,” was refiled as homicide, by order of the Federal Court headed by Judge Alejo Ramos Padilla. The Judge ordered a series of key measures to advance the investigation: Take a statement from all employees at the construction site where the body was found. Carry out a review of security cameras in the area. Request the intervention of a brigade specialized in homicides. Transfer the detainee to a judicial headquarters to be questioned. Meanwhile, the minor's family has already recognized the body at the scene of the discovery, amidst scenes of deep grief. At the same time, the autopsy is awaited, which will be decisive in clarifying the circumstances of the death. The investigation continues in full development and new measures in the coming hours are not ruled out.
