Buenos Aires, April 7 (NA) — An 80-year-old man was found dead in La Plata, and investigators believe it may have been a robbery followed by homicide, as the body was located in a small tool shed in the front yard of the home. According to the official report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the victim was identified as Néstor Daniel Copoletti, who lived alone at the address on 423 Street, between 7 and 8, where he was found lying on his back among tools and a bicycle. The main development came after the first forensic examinations, which confirmed that the man had several blows to the head and his body was lying in a pool of blood, reinforcing the hypothesis of a homicide. Investigation sources indicated that while the preliminary autopsy result is still awaited, the possibility of an accidental death or natural causes has been ruled out. Initially, the case was filed as an investigation into the cause of death because there were no obvious signs of violence in the main house. However, as the investigation progressed, investigators discovered missing items from the property. Although no forced entry or ransacked rooms were found, authorities believe someone entered the house and attacked the retiree, likely during a robbery. The victim's son was worried because his father was not answering his calls, so he asked Andrea Fabiana Pérez to enter the house with the keys she had. Finally, it was Pérez who went to the house and found the deceased. Pérez notified the police, and the case is now being investigated by La Plata's UFI No. 16, which is trying to determine the motive for the attack, reconstruct the victim's last hours through testimonies, and analyze security cameras in the area.
