The court in La Plata, Argentina, has ordered the release of 28-year-old Magalí Daniela Ojeda, who was detained after stabbing a retiree. The decision was made based on the consideration that she acted in defense of her children. However, she remains linked to the case as the investigation continues. Ojeda was arrested following a violent incident that occurred on 523 between 18 and 19, in the locality of Tolosa, near La Plata. During her testimony on Saturday before prosecutor Cecilia Corfield, head of UFI No. 15 of the La Plata Judicial Department, the judicial official did not request her detention. Thus, Ojeda regained her freedom but is still charged with 'attempted homicide.' The woman stated that she reacted after finding 68-year-old Genaroy Benjamin Díaz performing obscene acts in front of her minor children. According to initial inquiries, Ojeda was renting a room in the retiree's home. The incident came to light when police responded to a 911 call made by the assailant herself, and officers found Díaz with stab wounds to the chest, neck, and face. According to the Argentine News Agency, the man was urgently transferred to the San Roque Hospital in Gonnet, where he remains in serious condition. During the procedure, officers seized the knife used in the attack and preserved the scene for case forensics. Ojeda was represented by lawyers Juan Manuel Fontana and Isidro Digdanian, who announced they will request her dismissal from the case. They also emphasized that the woman has no criminal record, did not resist arrest, and cooperated with the investigation, aspects that were valued by the prosecution.
