Buenos Aires, February 27 (NA) -- The femicide detained for the murder of Ayelén Arredondo in La Plata is once again in the spotlight after sending a message from prison describing his confinement and denouncing deficiencies in the prison health system. The individual in question is Marcelo Alejandro Saleh, who is serving his sentence at Unit 35 in Magdalena for the murder of the young woman, which occurred in April 2021 at a residence located at 75 and 22. In his message, he denounced alleged neglect in the prison's health area. He reported that he suffers from acute otitis, causing him severe headaches, and stated that he is not receiving the necessary treatment. The case is being handled by La Plata's Criminal Oral Court No. 5, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. Ayelén was murdered when Saleh broke into her home to rob it, believing no one was inside. Upon encountering the victim, he attacked her to ensure his impunity and escape with valuables. The femicide of Ayelén Arredondo was one of the most shocking events of 2021 in La Plata. Additionally, he expressed fear of potential medical complications if the situation persists. In his communication, he also mentioned delays in medical attention and alleged irregularities related to the provision of food within the penitentiary establishment. The convict, who worked as a taxi driver and had a criminal record for robbery, also used social media to contact and harass women. Via a mobile phone and a message sent to his circle in the early morning hours of this Friday, February 27, Saleh identified himself with his full name, surname, and ID number, and stated he was 'in a context of confinement' at Unit 35.
