Buenos Aires, February 13 (NA) – The public oral trial against Felicitas Alvite, better known as “La Toreto”, for running over and killing motorcyclist Rubén Walter Arman in the city of La Plata, will begin in November. Meanwhile, the young woman suffered a panic attack during the preliminary hearing held this Friday. Lawyer Flavio Gliemmo, the defendant's defender, spoke with the Argentine News Agency and confirmed that the trial will take place on November 2, 3, and 6. “All the evidence to be used in the trial was discussed, and a ruling from the tribunal is still pending to determine what will and will not be used,” stated the lawyer. In this regard, Gliemmo emphasized that he requested supplementary instruction for “five or six more evidence-gathering measures,” and the decision from the La Plata Criminal Oral Court No. 2 is awaited. Likewise, Alvite suffered a panic attack in the Buenos Aires capital, which is why she “had to call an ambulance” because her defenders “had already left.” However, she later spoke with her legal representative and was “somewhat recovered,” according to the legal advisor. The case is filed as simple homicide with eventual intent, a crime that carries a sentence of 8 to 25 years in prison, but the lawyer considered: “For us, it is an incorrect classification; it is a case of culpable homicide.” In the same judicial process, Valentina Velázquez, Alvite's friend, will also be tried. She is accused of her participation in the fatal street race under the guise of a “speed test.”
“La Toretto,” who awaits trial for the fatal hit-and-run against Arman, is under house arrest at her home in City Bell.
