Thieves Steal Safes from Truck Drivers' Union in La Plata

Criminals have stolen two safes with important documentation from a union's mutual aid association in La Plata in the last few hours. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that the incident occurred at 6:30 AM on Tuesday at the headquarters located on 40th Street between 4 and 5, but it came to light this Wednesday when the person in charge arrived for his shift and noticed the missing items. The 56-year-old complainant explained that at the facilities of the Mutual Aid Association for Truck Drivers, Workers, and Cargo Transport Employees, the security alarm was damaged, and he noticed the absence of two safes located in one of the offices, which contained only documentation. It is a steel safe and a portable safe, both with important documentation such as promissory notes, checkbooks, and ministerial agreements, but it was not specified if there was any money inside. Police personnel from the Buenos Aires Province who arrived at the scene conducted the corresponding investigations and observed that there was no violence at any of the accesses, so the theft of the safes could have been committed by someone with access to the place. As indicated by the complainant, seven people who work there have access keys, so the officers were reviewing the security cameras in the area and taking witness statements.
