Verdict of Luis Alberto Ramos in Tehuel Case

On March 11, 2021, Tehuel de la Torre, a 21-year-old trans man, left his home in San Vicente for a job interview in Alejandro Korn. That afternoon, he disappeared after arriving at the home of Luis Alberto Ramos and Oscar Montes, who had offered him work at an event.

His girlfriend, Michelle, reported his disappearance after two days with no news. The police geolocalized his cell phone on March 13 and arrested Ramos and Montes for concealment and false testimony. Despite denying their involvement, evidence such as a photo on Tehuel's phone and blood samples in Ramos' house implicated them.

Following a reward set by the Ministry of National Security, the trial took place on August 30, 2024. The court ruled that Ramos was guilty of the crime and the disappearance of Tehuel. During the arguments, life imprisonment was requested, and Ramos was convicted of aggravated homicide motivated by hatred of gender identity.

The evidence presented, such as blood samples and burnt remains of the victim's clothing, along with the testimony of over 40 witnesses, was crucial in the sentencing. The case was considered a hate crime based on gender. Meanwhile, Montes is awaiting his jury trial.
