The parents of Kim Gómez, the girl murdered by criminals, addressed the crowd of neighbors who supported them to share their feelings after meeting face to face with one of the accused young men.
'I told the 17-year-old boy some things and now I feel better,' expressed Kim's father, Marcos, who chose not to go into detail about the encounter, opting to keep to himself the various feelings experienced. On the other hand, Florencia, the girl's mother, broke her silence amidst tears, moving everyone by stating: 'Kim is not the first, but I want her to be the last.'
Florencia revealed the distressing scene she witnessed when the minors threw her daughter from the moving vehicle and dragged her for 15 blocks, leaving indelible scars on her memory. Regarding the encounter with the 17-year-old boy, she shared: 'I saw him face to face, I didn’t say anything, but I looked at him. Justice is for the arrested to pay.'
Both parents consider it crucial to implement significant changes in the wake of the tragic event that took their daughter. Marcos expressed his motivation to honor Kim's memory through concrete actions to prevent her death from being in vain and added: 'I would be proud to say, 'look, this change was for Kim,' that would give me peace.'
Despite the constant pain they experience, they emphasized the importance of continuing to demand justice and holding adults accountable for the care and guidance of young people. With the hope that Kim's tragedy will drive meaningful transformations in society, the parents eagerly await the judicial rulings that will determine the fate of the arrested individuals involved in the crime.
