Two teenagers were arrested this Wednesday after incidents occurred between neighbors and personnel from the Buenos Aires Police in the Municipality of La Plata during the march for the murder of Kim Gómez, the 7-year-old girl brutally killed by two criminals aged 14 and 17 who dragged her for 15 blocks in a stolen car.
Neighbors threw stones and objects at the municipal headquarters, broke some windows, and attempted to force their way into the place, while the police monitored the surroundings to prevent access to the Municipal Palace. Dozens of people gathered in Altos de Lorenzo to demand greater police presence and justice for the deceased minor.
Two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, were arrested for the damages caused at the La Plata Municipality. The older of the two arrested, identified as Leonel González (18), had a criminal record, and the other detainee goes by the initials G.A.M. and is a resident of Los Hornos. A criminal case for serious damage has been opened under prosecutor Eugenia Di Lorenzo.
However, it was clarified that the detainees were not related to Kim's family and their legitimate demand for justice. People close to the girl had called for a peaceful demonstration, although some protesters threw stones at the municipal building, partially overshadowing the protest.
During the demonstration, several attendees carried signs with the image of the little victim in mourning, demanding answers from the authorities. One of the neighbors' demands is the lowering of the age of criminal responsibility in the Criminal Code due to the young age of the perpetrators and the criminal record of one of them. Among those present was Marcos Gómez, the grieving father of the deceased girl, who expressed his sorrow for the tragic loss.
