Kicillof Prepares for Legislative Session in La Plata

The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, has decided to reactivate negotiations and is expected to call on legislators to support his initiative in parliament. From the Kicillof faction, a strong mobilization to support the governor has been anticipated, in addition to the possibility of holding an event after the opening of sessions.

During this period, Kicillof has postponed his campaign activities to focus on management events. This postponement of the campaign was strategically planned by his advisors, considering the difficult situation the Milei government faces with the Cryptogate. They also hoped to have a clear view of the future of the national primaries, which were suspended in the Senate, allowing La Plata to resolve its own electoral agenda.

In his message to the Legislature, Kicillof is expected to review the key points of his management in 2024, focusing on the cuts made by the national Executive in security, public works, transportation, and education. He is also expected to address the discussion on the 2025 Budget, a topic that has been revisited in recent days following accusations of discretion in resource management by the opposition.

With an eye on the 2025 elections, Axel Kicillof will refine his speech for the opening of ordinary sessions in the Legislature, where he is expected to criticize President Milei and present possible modifications to the electoral calendar. Parliamentary sources indicate that the government is resuming negotiations aimed at reaching consensus, after failing to reach agreements on the approval of the Budget and other laws in the past.

The provincial parliament is scheduled to open sessions on March 5 at 5:00 PM, an event where a strong message from the governor of Buenos Aires is expected.
